learning Japanese through song

I love Arashi for lots of reasons, one of which is for the beautiful songs they sing. I love to sing and cannot truly sing along until I learn Japanese. One of the frustrating parts about subbed/translated works are that they are rephrased in English word order which does not help someone who is trying to learn Japanese. For this reason I have begun to retranslate some Arashi songs word for word ( at least as much as I can and still make sense). I have started with Ai wa Utao. I think you will realise when you listen again these translations add to the meaning and emotion of the song as you can match meaning to intonation. I am no expert so I am sure there are mistranslations but I tried not to change or interpret too much as I am also learning the new vocabulary. Where there are brackets I have rearranged the order of the word (usually particle) to make sense.

Ai wo utaou

Kono sekai ni Yoake no oto Kimi no koe Itsuwari nai deai

Arashi wineglass charms

I recently made these wineglass charms for an Arashi friend. They are so easy to make so I thought I would share them here. The wire rings, beads and charms can be bought from any craft store. I then printed some photos of my Arashi boys glued them onto the little silver discs and painted them with clear nail polish. I think they would be fun to have when you and your fellow Arashi fans get together.

My first post. I came to LJ through a search for all things Arashi and have largely been a voyeur rather than a contributor. This is due to my lack of skill and knowledge as well as shyness.
I have finally uploaded a userpic which I found at http://arashi-icon-luv.livejournal.com/ and so am acknowledging the source.

I chose this pic of Jun because while Jun-san can be so controlled, he can also show abandon and when he does it is breathtaking.
